About Me

Kelly Hatfield

My name is Kelly Hatfield, and I am a special and general education teacher (certified in grades 1-6) with seven years of experience designing and implementing research-based curricula in a range of settings. Iā€™m originally from St. Louis, Missouri, but I have lived in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Switzerland. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I love to cook, travel, run, read, and write poetry.

Some highlighted parts of my experience include:

  • Fostered a community-focused environment and increased student engagement by 150% in a second grade general education and in a fifth grade integrated co-teaching ELA classroom

  •  In the 2023-2024 school year, implemented and designed instruction for fifth graders heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to a median increase in student growth of 200% for the iReady Reading assessments

  • Adapted practices based on research, leading to proficiency rates of 86.4% in math and 91.3% in ELA for second grade students in the 2022-2023 school year and a growth of 100% in the 2021-2022 school year

  • Developed and assessed small and whole group instruction in all subjects for grade 4-6, leading to the following proficiency rates in 2018 based on MCAS data: 75% proficient in ELA (compared to 53% statewide) and 77% proficient in math (compared to 46% statewide)
